Best Pizza in Manhattan: An Analysis of 668 Pizza Places

An analysis of 668 pizza places across Manhattan in 2026, highlighting the highest-rated spots based on Google Maps reviews.

Pizza is one of those dishes synonymous with NYC. It is one of the most popular foods in the city, so Manhattan has tons of pizzerias. In this post, I explore a dataset of 668 pizza places in Manhattan, and highlight the top-rated 20 locations based on customer reviews.

See the end of this post for details on how the data was collected and analyzed.

TL;DR

  • Manhattan has 668 pizza places listed on Google Maps
  • Most are rated between 4.0 and 4.7 stars
  • Only 20 pizzerias have a rating of 4.9 or higher (with at least 20 reviews)
  • Pizza spots cluster heavily in Midtown, Lower Manhattan, and the West Village

Pizzerias across Manhattan

The map below shows all 668 pizza places in Manhattan, with each point colored by its average customer rating (from 1 to 5 stars). You can clearly see clusters forming in popular or high-traffic areas like Times Square, Little Italy, and parts of Lower Manhattan.

The histogram below the map shows the distribution of ratings. Most pizza places fall between 4.0 and 4.7 stars. Interestingly, none have an average rating below 2.0, likely because poorly rated places close quickly.

Pizzerias are concentrated in certain neighborhoods

The map below shows the density of pizza places across Manhattan. You can see that certain neighborhoods have a much higher concentration of pizzerias, such as Times Square, Little Italy, Financial District, and West Village. These areas are popular with tourists and locals alike.

Top-Rated Pizza Places

Only 20 pizza places in Manhattan have an average rating of 4.9 or higher with at least 20 reviews. I excluded places with fewer than 20 reviews since new spots can have artificially high ratings from a small number of customers.
