Reflecting on 2025: Memolli’s Year in Review and What’s Ahead

As 2025 comes to a close, we reflect on the milestones Memolli has achieved this year and share a glimpse of what’s coming in 2026.

2025 has been a big year for Memolli. At the beginning of 2025, Memolli was admittedly a bit janky and buggy, but it has since then matured into providing a more polished and reliable experience. I am proud of the progress made and excited about the direction Memolli is heading.

Major upgrades in 2025

This year, Memolli received several major upgrades that make it a compelling and private alternative to public review platforms like Yelp or Google Maps, while offering a more focused and low-friction experience compared to general note-taking apps. Some of the key improvements include:

  • Map view: See all your reviews geographically and start new entries by searching directly on the map.
  • Photo view: A dedicated library for all your photos, making it simple to browse, share, or export images.
  • Export data: You can now export your reviews as plain text files. Your data is not “locked-in” to Memolli, keeping your notes and photos fully under your control.

You can read more about these improvements here: December 2025 updates.

A look back from the developer

From my perspective as the primary developer of Memolli, it’s been a busy year of journaling. In 2025, I created a total of 149 reviews and added 560 photos. Here’s the my top most review categories:

Coffee (36 reviews)

Lately, I’ve been ordering different coffees from Trade.

Cider (21 reviews)

Most are from Eve’s Cidery in upstate New York.

Chocolate (10 reviews).

My favorite so far has been the Madagascar Sambirano 74% from Fruition.

Compared to public review platforms, using Memolli to scroll back through my own reviews feels so much more satisfying. It’s also a lot easier than digging through my iPhone’s photo library to find that one picture I took of a dish I liked months ago.

What’s coming in 2026

Looking ahead, there’s plenty to be excited about:

  • Android version: Ready in January, so more people can enjoy Memolli on their preferred devices.
  • Social integration: More features to see your friends’ reviews, invite people you know, and share experiences with those you trust.
  • Photo inclusion in exports: Ability to include your photos when exporting your reviews to plain text files.
  • iCloud backup: Have another option to back up your data securely.
  • More control over review templates: Customize the order of questions and structure your reviews exactly how you want.

Memolli has always been about giving you control over your personal record, and 2026 will continue that mission while expanding access and flexibility for all users.
