August 2026 updates: review later, sub-folders, sharing, and more

We’ve released a major Memolli update across iOS, Android, and web, focused on making it easier to capture something in the moment, review it when you are ready, and find it again later.

The biggest addition is review later: a new home for restaurants, drinks, products, photos, links, and quick thoughts you want to remember without writing a full review on the spot. This release also brings native sharing into Memolli, faster review flows, more useful maps and lists, a redesigned onboarding experience, photo-inclusive data exports, and a long list of performance and interface improvements.

Sometimes you know that you want to remember a restaurant, bottle, coffee, recipe, or recommendation, but you have not tried it yet. Or you simply do not have time to write about it.

The new Later tab gives those ideas a proper home. You can save a note, link, photo, or place with very little setup, then search, filter, organize, or view saved places on the map. When you are ready, turn the saved item into a review without losing the useful context you already captured. Things saved for review later stay separate from your completed reviews, so your journal does not fill up with half-finished entries.

Share links, text, and images directly into Memolli

The review later workflow also works with your phone’s native share menu. When a friend texts you a restaurant, you spot a bottle you want to try, or you find a useful link while browsing, you can share it directly to Memolli instead of copying it into a separate notes app. Memolli can capture shared links, text, and images, giving you one private place to keep ideas that would otherwise disappear into messages, browser tabs, screenshots, and scattered notes.

Choose a quick review or add every detail

The review experience has been rebuilt around two complementary paths.

Quick reviews keep the essentials close at hand when you only want to add a rating, a note, or a photo. If you want to record more, you can continue into the redesigned detailed editor without starting over.

Detailed reviews give you room for categories, custom questions, photos, lists, place or brand context, and optional AI-assisted suggestions. Both paths create the same review, so you can choose the amount of detail that fits the moment.

A more useful map for your food and drink memories

The map now brings more of your journal together in one view. New markers and filters make it easier to distinguish places you have reviewed, places saved for later, and reviews shared with you. You can also narrow the map by category or list. This makes collaborative restaurant lists and recommendations more useful while keeping ownership clear—a continuation of the list-sharing improvements we released in May. We improved nearby search too, making it easier to find places around your current area.

Lists can hold plans as well as memories

Lists have grown into a more flexible way to organize both where you have been and what you want to try next.

You can now create nested list folders, move lists between folders, and use swipe actions for common list and item management. A list can contain a mix of reviewed items, review later entries, and sub-folders, making it easier to build collections such as:

• Restaurants for an upcoming trip
• Favorite coffee shops by city
• Beers to try and beers already reviewed
• Recommendations shared with friends

Because review later entries and completed reviews can live together, a list can evolve naturally from a plan into a record of what you actually tried. If you are looking for more ideas, read our guide to keeping a private restaurant list.

Include your photos in a data export

Memolli has always been built around the idea that your data belongs to you. Data exports can now include your photos alongside human-readable review files and a machine-readable manifest in the same ZIP archive.

You can still export without photos when you want a smaller file. Shared content and other people’s data stay out of your personal export. This builds on the plain-text export introduced in our December 2025 update and makes it much easier to keep a complete copy of your own writing and images.

Faster startup and UI improvements

We made substantial behind-the-scenes changes to reduce startup work and get you into your journal faster. For example, my Memolli account contains over 700 photos and 400 reviews. It would previously take up to 6 seconds to load, but now it takes under one second.

We also made substantial UI improvements to make navigation more intuitive.
